Colombia students to present research from their work at Purdue
December 1, 2014
Students from Colombia who have been at Purdue since the summer to learn from research they can apply to their work back home will present their research projects at a symposium from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today (Dec. 1) in Pfendler Hall, Deans Auditorium (Room 241).
The symposium is open to the public. The symposium will include a lunch, which is not open to the public.
The research is the culmination of the work the students from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia have conducted in the colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, Health and Human Sciences, Pharmacy, Science and Technology since shortly after arriving on campus in June. The students will give short presentations on their work.
A delegation from Universidad Nacional, including the vice rector, Diego Hernandez, is visiting to attend the symposium.
The visit of the students is the result of a partnership, started in 2010, between Purdue and the government of Colombia that created the Colombia-Purdue Institute, designed to enhance the scientific and entrepreneurial workforce in the South American nation. Students selected for the program are among the top 10 percent of the students from Universidad Nacional, the country's top public university.
