Purdue Student Union Board to salute veterans

Purdue will honor veterans in a tribute at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 11).
The Purdue Student Union Board will present its Veterans Day Tribute in Purdue Memorial Union's Great Hall. The tribute will include "Presentation of the Colors" by the Tri-service Color Guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem and songs by the Purduettes, two speeches by local veterans, a table of remembrance, a moment of silence, and three memorial volleys to end the event.
Interactive displays will be available for attendees to offer their thanks to veterans for their service as well as display boards with photos of current and past veteran faculty members. Refreshments will be provided.
Speakers from Purdue are:
* Bob Mindrum, director of the Purdue Memorial Union, speaking on "Veterans Day and the Union."
* Don Roush, lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and associate director of the Weekend MBA Program in the Krannert School of Management, speaking on "Veterans Day Celebrating and the Decision to Serve."
* Jonathan Bruce, sergeant in the U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal. and a master's student in communication, speaking on "Standing in the Breach: The Soldier's Soul."
Events will be free and open to the public.
Donations will be accepted for the Veterans Stand Down Supply Drive. Needed supplies include pocket calendars, Band-Aids , combs , hairbrushes , rubber bands for hair , small travel-size mirrors, deodorant (hotel/travel size solid), foot powder , gauze pads, ibuprofen, Kleenex, medical tape , nail clippers , sewing kits, socks, tampons , toothpaste (hotel/travel size) toothbrushes and breakfast bars .
