Cooks named as University comptroller

Kendra Cooks, university controller for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, has been named Purdue's new comptroller.

Cooks has served as university controller for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte since 2008. Before that, she worked at Purdue for 16 years as assistant comptroller (1998-2008), unrestricted fund accountant (1997-98), business manager (1995-97) and accountant and sponsored programs administrator (1992-94). In addition, Cooks is a certified public accountant in Indiana and North Carolina. 

In her new role, Cooks will be responsible for directing collections, accounting services, managerial accounting, payroll services and risk management.

Cooks' appointment will be effective Dec. 1. She assumes this responsibility from Linda Baer, who has acted as interim comptroller since Aug. 6 following the departure of Mary Catherine Gaisbauer.
