About a dozen organizations and businesses from throughout Purdue's West Lafayette campus and the area will showcase sustainable vehicles of all stripes today (Oct. 22) at the Alternative Transportation Expo.

Part of Green Week, the expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Memorial Mall. During the expo, due to its location, parking on Oval Drive will be limited.

On display will be Caterpillar's CAT D7E, which is a new model of bulldozer with an electric drive power train; a biofuel airplane; a hybrid bus; a hybrid delivery truck; Zipcars; bicycles; and more.

The expo also will feature the opportunity for attendees to apply for memberships at the Zipcar booth. Zipcar vehicles are available on demand and gas, insurance, maintenance and 180 miles per day are included in every reservation. Reservations start at $7.50 per hour or $69 per day. Purdue students, faculty and staff can sign up for Zipcar membership for $25 per year.

A total of six Zipcars are available on campus. Two are at Grissom Hall, one is at the Life Science Plant and Soils Laboratory behind Lilly Hall, one is at the Black Cultural Center and two are at Shreve Hall.

Zipcar membership sign-up is also available at www.zipcar.com/purdue.
