Purdue Today e-newsletter features new look
August 18, 2014
The start of the academic year brings a new look to the daily Purdue Today e-newsletter. The new design reflects suggestions from a recent readership survey and features a one-column design for better viewing on mobile devices.
The results of the fall 2013 readership survey clearly indicated one area that is at a premium for Purdue Today readers: time. To better serve our readers, Purdue Today will now put key employment-related news -- much of which requires action by faculty and staff -- at the top of the newsletter. Purdue Today also has adopted a list format for headlines to allow readers to skim easily through topics and click through to those of interest.
Linked buttons under the Spotlight feature will provide easy access to popular features such as "Thumbs Up" throughout the week and a shortcut to information about submitting items for the newsletter.
Readers also overwhelmingly indicated their love of event news. The Events section is now anchored at the bottom of the newsletter and includes the regular Purdue Today calendars for events for the week, four weeks out, ongoing events and deadlines. Stories and photos about upcoming events will be included.
Purdue Today will continue to provide departmental and employee features, honors and appointments, research news, events information, and general interest items from around Purdue's campuses.
Purdue Today is the official Purdue University communication for faculty and staff. All benefits-eligible faculty and staff receive it in email newsletter format via their Purdue email account every weekday during the spring and fall semesters, and twice weekly during the summer and academic breaks.
Anyone interested in subscribing to Purdue Today, including spouses, same-sex domestic partners, retirees and friends of the University, may use the "Subscribe" link found at the bottom of the e-newsletter.Comments and questions may be sent to email@example.com.
