September 17, 2014

The Center for Healthy Living is taking registrations now for its Living Tobacco Free series. Program participants will meet noon-12:50 p.m. each Wednesday from Oct. 1 to Nov. 5.

Participants will learn tips and techniques to prepare them to stop using tobacco. The center's health coaches will lead the series, placing special focus on:

* Changing behavior.
* Overcoming withdrawal and cravings.
* Coping with stress.
* Managing weight.
* Preventing relapses.

Everyone who successfully completes the series by Nov. 14 will be eligible for a waiver of the tobacco-user additional premium on their 2015 Purdue medical plan, effective Jan. 1.

The series is open at no charge to all benefits-eligible Purdue employees, including those who don't participate in a Purdue medical plan. Spouses and same-sex domestic partners who are covered by a Purdue medical plan are also eligible to join the program.

To register, call 49-45422 by Sept. 29.
