Voice is a marvelous thing, as Pentatonix (above) will show again in its coming Purdue Convocations show. But song is not the only way that ideas, feelings and the celebration of life are voiced. ALREADY OPEN
The traveling exhibition "Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry" is at Hicks Undergraduate Library through Oct. 10, and companion talks by prominent professors are scheduled, offering social, economic and environmental perspective on the 1930s Dust Bowl. Details

How can or do the words "Postmodern Documentary Photography" fit together? An exhibition curated by Min Kim Park, assistant professor, and a companion symposium Sept. 25-26, will explore reality in an age of image manipulation technology. The Farmers Market on campus returns with early fall items after a two-week hiatus. It will continue at 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursdays through Oct. 30 at the north end of Memorial Mall. Details

The Discovery Lecture Series will bring Alvin Plantinga, well-known as a Christian philosopher who examines issues of science and religion, for a talk titled "Religion, Science and Naturalism: Where the Conflict Really Lies" and a book signing. 1:30 p.m. STEW, Fowler Hall. Details

Bands & Orchestras plans an intriguing weekend. You can swing free to "A Tribute to Glenn Miller and the 'Modernaires'" at 8 p.m. Friday, then pirouette over to an orchestral collaboration with the Lafayette Ballet Company in "The Lark Ascending" at 8 p.m. Saturday or 4 p.m. Sunday (tickets needed but free).
