ADVANCE director at Michigan to speak on initiative's future

Abigail Stewart, director of the ADVANCE Program at University of Michigan, will be at Purdue on Sept. 26 for a visit focused on transition and sustainability of ADVANCE initiatives, which foster greater numbers of and advancement by women in academic STEM disciplines.

During a seminar at 9:30-11 a.m. Sept. 26 in Stewart Center, Room 310, Stewart will present her ADVANCE work and where Michigan is 13 years after receiving an ADVANCE award. Stewart also is the Sandra Schwartz Tangri Distinguished University Professor of Psychology at Michigan, as well as an associate dean.

The event is open to the public.

ADVANCE is a program of the National Science Foundation aiming at "increasing the participation and advancement of women in academic science and engineering careers." NSF funds initiatives at numerous universities, and ADVANCE-Purdue, established in 2008, is the organizer and host for Stewart's visit.
