Engineering Education open house to celebrate 10 years

April 1, 2014

An activity-filled open house April 9 will highlight the year's 10th anniversary celebration by the School of Engineering Education.

The open house, set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m., will take place in the Herman and Heddy Kurz Atrium of Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering. The date is exactly 10 years from the day Purdue's Board of Trustees approved formation of a Department of Engineering Education, which was the world's first academic unit for that subject.

The celebration, employing the theme "Learning to Make a Difference," will offer numerous things to see and do:

* Hands-on activities from the INSPIRE research institute.
* Tours of First-Year Engineering facilities.
* Information on ENE faculty research.
* Videos on the history and philosophy of engineering education.

ENE conducts a doctoral program that is integral to Purdue's leadership in addressing the nation's call to educate more engineers. The school also is home to First-Year Engineering and Multidisciplinary Engineering/Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies. More about the school is at https://engineering.purdue.edu/ENE.
