Emergency training exercises to take place in ENAD

June 9, 2014

Purdue University Police and the Purdue University Fire Department will conduct functional emergency training exercises in the Engineering Administration Building on Thursday (June 12), Friday (June 13) and June 16.

The exercises will take place at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 2 p.m. on June 16. Each exercise will last about an hour, says Carol Shelby, senior director of environmental health and public safety.

Part of an annual emergency training drill, the exercises will involve personnel taking part in a low-key scenario confined inside ENAD, which is scheduled for demolition later this month. People near the building may hear or see the exercises while they're being conducted.

During the drills, sandwich-board signs indicating that an exercise is in progress will be placed around the building. Electronic message boards also will be placed to the west of ENAD and southeast of the attached Heating and Power Plant-North. Unused doors will be locked.

At the beginning of each exercise, emergency personnel will deploy from the building's rear dock.

Anyone with questions about the exercises should contact John Cox, chief of police, at jkcox@purdue.edu or 49-48221, or Kevin Ply, fire chief, at kmply@purdue.edu or 49-46919.
