Cholesterol management program to begin June 6

May 22, 2014

A new Center for Healthy Living program will help participants develop an action plan to manage their high cholesterol.

The High Cholesterol Education and Self-Management Program will meet each Friday from noon to 12:50 p.m., beginning June 6 and running through Aug. 29. The program will skip July 4 due to the holiday.

"Your cholesterol action plan will help you partner with your health care provider to get the most from your office visits and medications," says Suzanne Rossiter, RN health coach at the center.

Participants will learn what cholesterol is, where it comes from, and what types of screenings are available. "We'll also discuss how to keep your numbers low by eating healthy, being active and investigating medication options," Rossiter says.

The program is available at no cost to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff at the West Lafayette campus. Spouses and same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan are also eligible to participate at no cost.

To register, contact Millie Fenneman at 49-45505 by June 4.
