APSAC holds elections, merges subcommittees

April 16, 2014

The Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (APSAC) elected its 2014-15 vice chair and emeritus members and merged two of its standing subcommittees at its meeting April 9.

Christopher Munt, coordinator of student diversity services for the Diversity Resource Office, will begin his term as vice chair on June 1. Andrea Thomas, APSAC's current vice chair, will become chair on that date.

APSAC also elected four nonvoting emeritus members for 2014-15. They are Robin Cunningham, Joe Kline, Jon Laswell and Beau Moore, who is outgoing chair.

Also during the meeting, the committee approved the necessary changes to its bylaws to merge two standing subcommittees. Membership and Staff Relations, which handles new member recruitment and related tasks, will merge with the Communications subcommittee effective June 1.

Prompting the merger was the fact that many of the subcommittees' tasks have overlapped in recent years and will continue to do so, Moore said. Combining the subcommittees will promote efficiency.

The new committee will be called Membership and Communications. Tyson McFall and Kelly Delp will serve as chair and vice chair, respectively.
