Research and Scholarship Distinguished Lecture set for Monday

Thomas Hertel, Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Economics, will present the Research & Scholarship Distinguished Lecture at 1:30 p.m. Monday (Nov. 18) as part of his selection as winner of the inaugural 2013 Purdue University Research & Scholarship Distinction Award, Purdue's most prestigious research honor outside the natural sciences.

The title of Hertel's talk is "Global Change and the Challenges of Sustainably Feeding a Growing World." The lecture, free and open to the public, will be in Stewart Center, Fowler Hall. A reception will follow Hertel's lecture in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center.

The Purdue Research and Scholarship Distinction Award was established by Purdue in recognition of faculty whose recent research and scholarship have made a major impact on their field in disciplines outside the domain of the natural sciences. It is based on nomination by colleagues and selection by faculty representatives and the University's president.
