Employees opted out of Purdue medical coverage must opt out again for 2014

November 14, 2013

Employees who have opted out of Purdue medical coverage for 2013 and want to opt out again in 2014 must indicate this through EBenefits by 6 p.m. (ET) Friday (Nov. 15). Those who do not will be enrolled automatically in the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2, but they will not have a health savings account through the University, and they will not get an HSA contribution from Purdue.

They will also be charged the $500 tobacco-user additional premium on their medical plan and will pay tobacco-user rates on any additional employee term life insurance they carry. For more information about the results of not completing 2014 information in EBenefits by the deadline, see the recent Purdue Today article at www.purdue.edu/newsroom/purduetoday/releases/2013/Q4/employees-who-dont-enroll-will-be-placed-in-highest-deductible-medical-plan-for-2014.html.

To enroll or opt out, employees go to the Purdue Employee Portal at www.purdue.edu/employeeportal, click the EBenefits link at the top of the portal and sign on using their Purdue career account user name and password.

For information and resources related to benefits enrollment, go to the enrollment Web page at www.purdue.edu/benefits/enroll.html or contact the Human Resources Service Center at hr@purdue.edu, 49-42222 or HR Help at www.purdue.edu/hrhelp
