Combination medical and prescription drug ID cards for 2014 to begin arriving this week

December 12, 2013

Employees who will be covered by a Purdue medical plan in 2014 should watch their home mail for their insurance identification (ID) cards. Anthem will begin sending cards this week. Full distribution of the cards will take several days.

Plan participants will have a single ID card to use for both medical and prescription claims, rather than the two ID cards issued for 2013. Anthem will send an ID card for each covered family member.

"ID cards generally arrive in time for the new year," says Eva Nodine, director of benefits in Human Resources, "but we encourage people who are taking a prescription on an ongoing basis to have enough medication on hand to get through the first few days of the new year, just in case their ID card arrives late."

Faculty and staff who do not receive their 2014 ID cards by Jan. 2 should contact the Human Resources Service Center at 49-42222, hr@purdue.edu or HR Help at www.purdue.edu/hrhelp
