Diabetes 101 Series
Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, 13 and 20 (W). 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During this four-week Type 2 diabetes basics series, participants will learn current clinical information of diabetes management, including a list of diabetes medications, insulin action times and other treatment options. Physical activity is also emphasized in each session, and participants will learn how regular activity positively affects glucose levels and heart health.

Important information on pre-diabetes is also provided because studies show that many people with pre-diabetes go on to develop diabetes within 10 years. Information contains ideas that participants can follow to prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes.

Sample restaurant menu meals will be used to help participants learn about carbohydrate counting, dietary fiber and its importance, and sodium and transfat information. Instructor: Rosemary Benjamin, RD, CD, CDE.
