Boiler Television changes channel lineup

October 15, 2013

Boiler Television (BTV), the University's closed-circuit cable system, has made several changes to its channel lineup.

BTV now offers high-definition versions of ESPN, ESPN2, the Big Ten Network and ABC Family, and the system has added Disney, AMC, Bravo and MSNBC.

To make room for the new channels, BTV has dropped the analog version of the following stations:
* 4 - WTTV/CW
* 5 - WXIN/FOX
* 6 - WRTV/ABC
* 7 - WLFI/CBS
* 8 - WISH/CBS
* 9 - WTHR/NBC
* 10 - WFYI/PBS
* 12 - ABC Family
* 14 - ESPN
* 15 - ESPN2
* 17 - Big Ten Network

The digital versions of these channels, which still will be offered on BTV, are of much higher quality and more reliable, says Michael Beach, manager of BTV. It is necessary to have a digital-capable TV in order to view the channels.

Departments with televisions connected to BTV may need to reprogram the units to make sure all available channels are being received. They can pick up the new lineup by setting their televisions to auto-tune.

Additional channels will be added later this fall. BTV's complete channel lineup can be seen at www.housing.purdue.edu/BTV/Channel. Purdue Today's ongoing series and opportunities calendar will provide this link every week in its Media section to allow viewers easy access to BTV's most current channel listings.
