Upgrade for PUID card access system set for May 13-15

May 6, 2013

An upgrade to the PUID card access software, which operates campus doors, dining plans and the BoilerExpress debit program, is planned for May 13-15 for the West Lafayette campus. During that time, customers will not be able to use their BoilerExpress accounts, and the Card Services Office will not be able to issue new or replacement cards for students, faculty and staff.

The current software, Blackboard ID, has been used at the West Lafayette campus for almost 20 years and is no longer supported by the vendor. The new software, Blackboard Transact, will provide Purdue with many administrative enhancements not previously available.

The upgrade is the culmination of three years of planning with staff participation from the Card Services Office, Procurement, Housing and Food Services, Physical Facilities, ITaP, the Comptroller's Office and counterparts from IPFW.

The majority of the change will occur behind the scenes and will be not be apparent to the customer. Students and staff will see no change in the way their ID card operates with the new system, and there will be no need to obtain a new ID card.

On May 13-15, the Card Services Office will be not produce new or replacement ID cards for students, faculty and staff but will be open for general questions from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. The office is in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 130.
