Drug discovery website debuts

April 12, 2013

Purdue's growing drug discovery enterprise is now highlighted in a new website.

Located at www.purdue.edu/research/pcdd, the website is overseen by the new Center for Drug Discovery. It includes a faculty directory, resources for researchers, dedicated facilities, and information on undergraduate and graduate coursework in drug discovery.

The site also includes a link to a live webcam of the new Drug Discovery Building, scheduled to open in April 2014, and a link to "Drug Discovery at Purdue," an annual catalogue of Purdue researchers.

The Center for Drug Discovery, approved last August, will help showcase the depth and breadth of Purdue's drug discovery programs to pharmaceutical companies and other entities. Phil Low, the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and founder of the biopharmaceutical companies Endocyte and On Target, is the inaugural director.

"There's a huge strength on campus in drug discovery, and it's very diverse -- different departments, different schools, different diseases," says Marietta Harrison, associate vice president for research. "The new center will bring faculty with similar disease interests together, aid faculty in traversing the pipeline from discovery to clinical translation and coordinate responses to funding opportunities."
