June 17, 2013

Area residents are invited to meet President Mitch Daniels at a free picnic today (June 17). It will be held at 5-7 p.m. at Imagination Station, 600 N. Fourth St., Lafayette.

Hosted by Greater Lafayette Commerce and sponsored by several local businesses and industries, the event will officially welcome Daniels to the Lafayette area. He and local government officials will give brief remarks at 5:30 p.m. Picnic food, including pulled pork, hot dogs and brats, will be offered during the event.

Also during the picnic, the Hanna Community Center will receive Purdue's 2013 Exemplary Community Partner Award. The award recognizes local nonprofits that provide opportunities for Purdue students to enhance their education through volunteer and service-learning activities.

Free parking for the event will be available in several lots near Imagination Station.
