Practice administrator Marva Pearson is featured today in our series to introduce staff who work at the Center for Healthy Living.

What's the role of the practice administrator?

The practice administrator oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility. I make sure our staff has the training they need, and I ensure they continue their ongoing training. Protecting confidentiality is another priority of my position. I make certain we adhere to all HIPAA privacy requirements.

When would clients interact with you?

Clients would talk to me regarding the service they received at the center. If there were issues, I'll work to get them resolved. If the service was great, I hope they'll let me know that, too. Clients also can contact me with any questions regarding billing or the patient portal. And, if anyone wants to give me tips on some great running shoes, get in touch!

A lot of clients have completed our yellow comment cards, and I hope more will complete them. They help us know how we're doing. So, for anyone who hasn't had a chance to fill out one, please do during your next visit to the center.

What attracted you to the Center for Healthy Living?

I like the idea of wellness being a big part of what we do here. We have RN health coaches, a registered dietitian and a wellness coordinator, so we are really committed to wellness and keeping people healthy.

What do you enjoy in your time away from the job?

My family and I enjoy outdoor activities, fishing, camping and boating. My husband is an avid runner, and I try to run! I've decided to challenge myself and run the Indy Mini Marathon in May.
