Traffic signal work on State Street; new U.S. 231 not available

January 11, 2013

Traffic signals on State Street (State Road 26) at Martin Jischke Drive and Russell Street may receive work between 10 and 11 a.m. today (Jan. 11). Purdue police officers will work the intersections manually during the work by INDOT, the Indiana Department of Transportation. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or expect delays.

The new bypass section of U.S. 231 still is under construction, and until INDOT has all required measures in place, the new section of roadway will remain closed. INDOT urges individuals to stay off the closed road for their own safety. Barricades are in place and should be obeyed. Purdue police will be enforcing this closure, and individuals found on the closed section of roadway are subject to arrest for trespassing.
