Union's Beaujolais Wine Dinner coming

November 7, 2012

Aficionados of wine and fine food can share in Purdue Memorial Union's annual Beaujolais Wine Dinner on Nov. 15, celebrating the new shipment from France that morning. Dinner reservations are required by Monday (Nov. 12).

The yearly third-Thursday-in-November wine distribution begins just after midnight from French villages to Paris and then everywhere, and by day's end, wine lovers worldwide have savored 65 million bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau.

Dining Services at the Union has created a prix fixe Select Dining experience of six courses at the Sagamore Restaurant on the upper floor. The dinner is a single-seating event starting at 6 p.m.

Menu items include pumpkin and cranberry butters, lamb carpaccio, roasted spaghetti squash and smoked venison cocoa au poive. The menu is designed by Bruce Haumesser, the Union's executive chef.

Cost of the wine dinner is $50 per guest plus tax and gratuity. More information, including a complete menu, is at http://union.purdue.edu/selectdining. That page also has the link to the menu and online reservations form. Reservations are being accepted also at sagamorerestaurant@purdue.edu or 49-48945.
