Registration open for free memorial walk/run

September 17, 2012

A free 5K walk/run in honor of Jay Severson, a Wiley Hall resident assistant who died in 1996 while working with one of his residents, is open for registration.

The event, known as the Jay5K, will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 22 in front of Wiley Dining Court. Runners will go 5K; walkers will go 1.5K. Registration will take place on-site from 8 to 9 a.m. Participants also may find a registration form, which should be submitted to Smalley Center, at www.housing.purdue.edu.

The walk/run is meant to raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. Donations -- which are not required to participate -- will go to the Severson Memorial Fund, which funds drug and alcohol education for students.
