Health checks being offered for grad students' children

A Child Wellness Day for the children of Purdue graduate students is planned for Friday (April 20), offering vaccinations, health screenings and physicals, hemoglobin screenings, hearing screenings and health education booths.

The event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Purdue Village Community Center. School of Nursing undergraduate and graduate students, with the guidance of faculty members, will be conducting health screenings and physicals. The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences will conduct hearing screenings.

Appointments are needed and can be made at https://www2.itap.purdue.edu/bs/WorkLife; the option will appear only for graduate students. When bringing a child, the adult also should bring the child's vaccination record and insurance cards if applicable.

The day includes emphasis on health education and wellness for children and adults, including displays and presentations enjoyable for young children.

Other support for the day came from Purdue Graduate Student Government. Purdue Village Community Center is assisting with space and arrangements.
