Nominations sought for Violet Haas Award

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is seeking nominees for the 2012 Violet Haas Award.

Established in 1990, the award recognizes individuals, programs or departments at Purdue that have facilitated the advancement of women in hiring, promotion, education and salary, or have enhanced a positive professional climate for women at the University.
  
The award is named for Haas, an electrical engineering professor from 1962 to 1986, who was instrumental in the early development of the Purdue chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.
  
Criteria for the award include a demonstration of the breadth and impact of the nominee's accomplishments within and beyond the responsibilities of his/her position; a demonstration of the nominee's noteworthy efforts on behalf of women faculty, staff and/or students at Purdue; and examples of the nominee's efforts on behalf of women outside of Purdue (if applicable). The nominee's length of service at Purdue and time period of accomplishments also will be considered.
  
To nominate someone for the award, the following should be submitted: a nomination letter up to three pages in length, a maximum of two letters of support and the nominee's resume, condensed to two pages in length and highlighting accomplishments and efforts meeting the award criteria.
