WorkLife offerings focus on finances, stress management and nutrition

October 31, 2011

Checking out the WorkLife Programs classes coming up in the next few weeks, then registering and attending, can lead to some valuable information for one's total well-being.

NUTRITION AND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Mindful Eating
Nov. 1. 12:10-12:50 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 318.
We eat for various reasons, but we also live in an environment that encourages us to eat. What we don't always comprehend is when to stop eating. Mindful eaters learn how to eat slowly, are satisfied with fewer calories and develop an improved attitude and appreciation for food. Want to become a mindful eater? Come join us for a discussion on how we often are tricked by our environment into eating more than we intend to, along with a demonstration on how to eat mindfully. Chocolate will be served. The class will feature 30 minutes of instruction, followed by small group discussions designed to let participants trade tips on how to best implement these practical strategies into busy lifestyles.

Live Long and Prosper on the Mediterranean Diet
Nov. 9. 4:10-4:50 p.m. Freehafer Hall, Rooms 2-1 and 2-2.
The Mediterranean diet is an eating pattern that has yielded long, healthy lives for many people in countries such as Greece and Italy. Discover the advantages of applying this dietary pattern to your own life, and learn how to enjoy the many flavors and textures of these natural foods while optimizing your health at the same time.

HELP WITH STRESS

Yoga for Relaxation

This slow flow yoga class emphasizes opening and restorative postures. Through breath work, gentle movement, and deep holds, this all-levels practice is designed to restore the body and renew the spirit.

Organization and Time Management
Nov. 15. 12:10-12:50 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 202.
If you're like most people, you'd love to have more hours in the day. While it's impossible to create more time, you can learn to waste less time, be more productive and get organized.

Laugh Your Way to Wellness
Nov. 16. 12:10-12:50 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 313.

Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Fun, free and easy to use -- see how you can get your daily dose of healthy fun.

FINANCIAL

Affluenza -- The Cultural Epidemic
