October conference to help shape STEM position paper

An international conference Oct. 10-12 at Purdue will focus on developing strategies for the effective transition of STEM educational research to classroom practice across higher education.

Conference participants will contribute in real time, through online collaboration, to a working position paper on effective practices for transforming education. STEM disciplines are science, technology, engineering and math.

The conference, titled "Transforming Education: From Innovation to Implementation," is being offered by the Discovery Learning Research Center. Sign-in will begin at 5 p.m. Oct. 10, and the conference will conclude at 11 a.m. Oct. 12. Among the speakers Oct. 11 is Carl E. Wieman, associate director for science in the Office of Science and Technology Policy of the White House.
