Update: Traffic, parking disruptions
Here are notes on some current and upcoming disruptions on the West Lafayette campus.
Full traffic and construction disruption information is on the Physical Facilities Travel Alert page www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travelalert.php. Weather conditions play a significant role in progress on projects. The campus map is at www.purdue.edu/campus_map.
-- At and near Purdue University Airport, motor traffic and parking are disrupted. Due to the U.S. 231 project, parking at the airport is very limited. Avoid the area if possible and expect delays. ----- Sometime this week (Aug. 22-26), Airport Road will be closed just north of the railroad tracks. Vehicles will use a short detour to access the airport. ----- Also this week, the two parking lots north of the railroad tracks will be closed for paving and maintenance. The parking lot in front of the Terminal Building (TERM) will remain closed and the temporary parking lot between the terminal and Niswonger Aviation Technology Building (NISW) will be restricted to vehicles with an A or B permit, with no oversized vehicles allowed. ----- Temporary student and visitor parking will be available west of the Holleman-Niswonger Simulator Center (SIML). The new student parking lot east of the Aerospace Science Laboratory (AERO) is expected to open Sept. 16.
-- The sidewalk on the west side of Marsteller Street, near the Agricultural Administration Building (AGAD), will be closed through Oct. 17.
-- Information about segments of Harrison Street and John Wooden Drive is posted at www.purdue.edu/newsroom/purduetoday/faculty_staff_news/2011/110819_StreetAdvis.html. Harrison Street from Sheetz through University streets is to reopen today (Aug. 22), and John Wooden Drive near Mackey Arena reopened a week ago, but some remaining tasks in each case provide reason for motorists and pedestrians to be especially alert.
