Offering employees quick tips for better living plus insights into ways Purdue can help them achieve an improved quality of life, the Everyday Wellness campaign rolls out today.

The new campaign, from Human Resources, aims to help employees understand how their day-to-day choices can have a positive impact on their well-being and the well-being of those who are close to them.

“Partnership” describes the spirit of the campaign, according to Luis Lewin, vice president for human resources.

“When employees take steps toward everyday wellness, they’ll find that Purdue offers a lot to support their efforts,” Lewin says.

The focus of Everyday Wellness is preventive care -- everything from flu shots to exercise to managing a chronic condition so that it doesn’t become worse.

An Everyday Wellness tip will run in Purdue Today on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The short tip will provide a link to a full article on the topic, complete with information about help available through Purdue and links to related resources. The Everyday Wellness website at www.purdue.edu/everydaywellness will provide a growing library of preventive care resources.

Lewin says that the benefits of practicing good preventive care are multifaceted and can include:

* Detecting an illness or condition early, when it is most treatable.
* Avoiding health complications through managing a chronic condition.
* Feeling as good as you can each day.
* Saving money for yourself and Purdue’s medical plans.
* Spending less time and money in the health care system.

Employees who are willing to share their stories about how preventive care has made a difference in their lives may contact Human Resources at hrcomm@purdue.edu.
