CIE to offer workshops on college teaching

The Center for Instructional Excellence will offer two workshop series during spring semester on the fundamentals of teaching at Purdue.

Series I will be held Tuesday mornings beginning Jan. 18. Topics include engaging students, writing course syllabi, establishing successful course policies, effective lecturing and writing tests. There is a total of 10 sessions.

Series II, beginning Jan. 19, will examine specific teaching challenges such as making mistakes in the classroom, developing a classroom persona, choosing to be healthy, managing writing as a learning tool and developing a syllabus. This series has five sessions.

Purdue faculty, staff and graduate students who are currently teaching or who plan to teach in the future are welcome to attend workshops in both series.
