Meeting to offer information on 2011 medical benefits plan

All faculty and staff are welcome to learn about the proposed 2011 Purdue Medical Benefits Plan during a special University Senate meeting at 9-10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 7) in Room 306, Stewart Center.

The plan will be presented to the Purdue Board of Trustees for approval on Oct. 14-15.
The presentation to faculty and staff attending the Senate meeting will be made by John Beelke, director of staff benefits, and Luis Lewin, vice president for human resources. The room will be set up with 200 chairs. No other Senate business is scheduled for this meeting.
"The medical benefits plan is a crucial aspect of employment at Purdue for most employees, and understanding the options is of high importance," says Joan Fulton, Senate chair. "Every Senate meeting is open to the public, so a special Senate meeting makes sense as an occasion for faculty and staff to learn about the 2011 plan and ask questions."
In previous years a presentation of the coming year’s medical benefits program took place at the September meeting of the Senate, she says, but this year materials were not ready at that time. Upon consultation with other Senate leaders, she has called the special meeting
