Farmers market welcomes more seasonal produce

August 25, 2010

Pick up tonight's dinner or stock up for the weekend at the farmers market on the corner of Sheetz and Wood streets, just west of the Dick and Sandy Dauch Alumni Center.

Seasonal produce such as peppers, watermelon, peaches and cantaloupe are available. Open from 3 to 6:30 p.m. today, the farmers market will also offer apples, beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, peas, tomatoes and zucchini.

These items are available through August and part of September. As the season progresses, more produce will be added.

Along with fresh fruits and vegetables, local growers and vendors will continue to offer jams, jellies, baked goods, meats and cheeses.

The market, sponsored by Purdue Physical Facilities, will be held Thursdays through Oct. 28.
