New offerings available from WorkLife Programs

WorkLife Programs is offering several presentations in the next few weeks, many of which are being presented for the first time. 

An asterisk before the presentation title means that it is being offered for the first time:

* Helping Children Cope with Traumatic Events
Tuesday. Noon-1 p.m. WorkLife Programs, Purdue West Shopping Plaza (PWF), 1402 W. State St.
This presentation will help participants understand children's response to trauma, know what children need and what they can do to help children adjust and cope after a traumatic event, and know when a child might benefit from professional help.

* Internet Safety: Tips for Protecting Children and Teens Online
May 3. Noon-1 p.m. WorkLife Programs, Purdue West Shopping Plaza (PWF), 1402 W. State St.
Learn about potential online risks to children and teens, gain an understanding of how to protect children and teens from online dangers, understand what cyber bullying is and how to recognize and/or prevent it, and receive parent, child and teen resources for Internet safety.

* Helping You to Raise Drug-Free Kids
May 5. 12:10-12:50 p.m. Room 310, Stewart Center.
During this presentation, parents will learn information on drug/alcohol recognition, the warning signs of use/abuse, and how to talk to your kids about drugs/alcohol.

* Keys to a Healthy Marriage (or Other Intimate Relationships)
May 7. Noon-1 p.m. WorkLife Programs, Purdue West Shopping Plaza (PWF), 1402 W. State St.
In this presentation, participants will learn the myths about marriage, know the stages of marriage, learn what behaviors lead to marital conflict and divorce, and discover the keys to creating and maintaining a healthy relationship.

Weight Watchers at Work
Mondays, May 10-Aug. 9
Whether you are looking to achieve significant, long-term weight loss or just trying to shed a few pounds, Weight Watchers at Work can help you effect a lifestyle change to assist you with your goal. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is over 25, WorkLife Programs will pay for half of the $144 fee if you attend 11 of 12 meetings. You may receive only two incentives in your lifetime.

* Managing Family Conflicts
May 11. Noon-1 p.m. WorkLife Programs, Purdue West Shopping Plaza (PWF), 1402 W. State St.
This presentation will help participants understand the reasons for family conflict, identify their personal conflict style, know 10 rules for fighting fairly, and learn specific techniques for resolving conflicts with their children and partner.
