Wellness screenings available on West Lafayette campus
Free wellness screenings, provided by WorkLife Programs and administered by the School of Nursing, are available on the West Lafayette campus.
Dates and locations for spring 2010 are listed below. This list includes a Saturday screening date to make it easier for spouses/same-sex domestic partners to take part.
March dates:
* March 9, 10, 12, 22, 26, 30. Room B-5, Johnson Hall of Nursing.
* March 23, 24. Room 214 CD, Stewart Center.
* March 27, 29. WorkLife Programs office, Purdue West Building F (PWF), 1402 W. State St.
* March 31. Room 203, Mann Hall.
April
* April 2. Room 1284, Beering Hall.
* April 12, 13, 14, 23, 28. Room B-5, Johnson Hall of Nursing.
* April 26, 27. Room 206, Stewart Center.
* April 30. Room 1179, Physical Facilities Service Building.
Benefit-eligible faculty, staff, graduate staff, official retirees, and their spouses/same-sex domestic partners may receive one free screening per calendar year. (The exception is graduate staff spouses, who pay $20.)
The School of Nursing administers the campus screenings. Senior-level nursing students conduct the screenings under the direction of faculty. Screenings include a finger stick test for total cholesterol, HDL, and glucose, blood pressure, and height/weight. Fasting is not required for the finger stick test. Bring Purdue University identification (PUID) to the appointment.
Free screenings are limited to one per calendar year, and participants are encouraged to select the location that works best for them and to stay on an annual schedule for screenings.
If an individual has an existing medical condition, or is already on medication for any medical condition including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or others, it would be more appropriate to see a health care provider for a screening.
