Summer Concert Series coming at Union

June 21, 2010

Four varied musical acts are set for Purdue Memorial Union's Summer Concert Series on Wednesdays this July. The series also features optional picnic-style food and drink.

Each week, the free concert will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the Union's front lawn. Food service will open at 5:30 p.m. Tables and chairs will be set up, but guests are welcome to bring chairs and/or blankets. The rain location will be inside the Union in the North Ballroom on the first three dates, the South Ballroom for the last.

The dates and performers are:

* July 7 -- Michael Kelsey, acoustic rock.

* July 14 -- Moonshine Mason and the Rot Gut Gang, country.

* July 21 -- Small Town Heroes, Christian/bluegrass.

* July 28 -- Crash Landing, blues.

The menu on all four Wednesdays will feature a choice of five favorites fresh from the grill -- marinated chicken breast, hamburger (with cheese), hot dog with bun, Polish with bun, or veggie patty -- for $3.75.  Sides, at $1.75, will be macaroni and cheese, baked beans and cole slaw. Soft drinks in cans and water in bottles will be sold for $1.50. A combo of one grill item, one side and one soda will be $6.50. Pappy's ice cream will be sold separately.

The series is sponsored by the Union and Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union. More about the Union.
