Purdue Black Cultural Center ensembles to perform at Pacers game
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University Black Cultural Center's Performing Arts Ensembles will perform before the Indiana Pacers game Dec. 6 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Purdue Black Voices of Inspiration, Haraka Writers, Jahari Dance Troupe and New Directional Players will perform on the main concourse of the fieldhouse at 6 p.m., prior to the Pacers game against Toronto, which begins at 7 p.m. The performance will include excerpts from the theme of the 2010 Cultural Arts Festival, which focuses on the Black Power Movement.
A member of this season's Pacemates, a dance team that performs at Pacers home games, is Tammara Ammons Jones, a Purdue alumna and former member of the Jahari Dance Troupe.
Students, alumni and the public may purchase tickets for the game at a discounted rate of $21.20. To purchase a ticket, go to http://www.pacersgroups.com/tickets/387. The password is Purdue.
Those purchasing the discounted tickets will sit in a section reserved for Purdue. A portion of each ticket will be donated to the Black Cultural Center Performing Arts Ensembles. For more information, contact the BCC at 765-494-3092.
