High-tech job fair aims to match Indiana companies, Purdue students
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Indiana companies looking for new employees can recruit from among more than 600 job-hunting Purdue University students at an Oct. 28 job fair.
Employers can register online for the 12th annual High Tech Job Fair for Indiana Companies at http://www.purdue.edu/jobfair. The event, offered by Purdue's Technical Assistance Program for in-state jobs only, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms.
Company representatives can screen candidates during the fair, then interview selected students from 4-8 p.m. The fair also will feature an information session with interviewing, recruiting and salary tips for high-tech businesses from 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Students majoring in technology, science, engineering, management and agriculture will be matched with Indiana companies that have high-tech job openings. More than 60 companies from throughout the state attended the 2008 event.
Randy Hountz, Technical Assistance Program associate director, said the fair provides companies with an efficient and effective way to find the right match for each open job, including full- and part-time positions.
"TAP's job fair links Indiana companies with hundreds of highly skilled students in a single event," Hountz said. "We know companies have a variety of hiring needs, and this fair provides access to students from several different majors."
The fair is sponsored by the Purdue colleges of Agriculture, Science, Technology and Engineering, the Krannert School of Management, and Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all Purdue campuses.
TAP's mission is to help businesses, industry and government use new technologies to benefit Indiana citizens and improve the state economy.
