Nominations for animal sciences alumni awards due in April
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Nominations are being sought for Purdue University's 2011 Distinguished Animal Sciences Alumni Awards.
The awards program is in its ninth year, and Barry Delks, coordinator of career services and alumni relations in the Department of Animal Sciences, said it is an ideal way to show the wide range of accomplishments of animal sciences alumni.
"It's a great time to celebrate their careers, and it is a tremendous opportunity for our students to meet them and learn about their character qualities that lead to a successful career," Delks said. "It is amazing to see what our alumni have accomplished in industry, production, education and academia in the animal science industry."
Three categories are based on years since the alum earned his or her first degree: an early career award for those from five to 15 years; a mid-career award for 16-30 years; and a lifetime award for 31 or more years.
Awards will be based on a demonstrated excellence in industry, academia, governmental service or other endeavors. Attention will be paid to leadership, community service and professional accomplishments.
Nominations must be submitted by April 29. A nomination should include a nomination form, the nominee's vita or resume and a typed, one-page description of the nominee's accomplishments.
Nominations can be made by any person or group affiliated with Purdue's Department of Animal Sciences, the university or the animal science industry.
