Workshop to highlight opportunities in wind energy
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's Manufacturing Extension Partnership will co-sponsor two workshops on business opportunities in supplying the wind energy industry.
MEP is teaming with GLWN, a nonprofit international wind energy supply chain network and advisory group.
The workshops will be held April 19 at the Rolls-Royce Training Center in Indianapolis.
The first session, from 8 a.m.-noon, will cover manufacturing basics. Presenters will discuss emerging business opportunities, how global trends are driving demand for key components, and how those changes are affecting the industry's supply chain structure. They also will help attendees understand what wind energy companies look for in their suppliers and how they can use that information to accelerate their growth in supplying the wind industry.
The second session, from 1-5 p.m., will look at advanced areas. Session topics will include: an update on the make up of the current supply chain, advanced fabrication requirements, understanding electrical component needs, and turbine construction requirements and logistics. The day will finish with a session on wind industry quality management systems, operations and maintenance.
Cost is $49 for one session or $79 for both. Lunch will be provided for those attending both sessions.
