Graveel heading Purdue Ag academic programs in interim
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - John G. Graveel, who had served as assistant dean of the Office of Academic Programs (OAP) in Purdue University's College of Agriculture, has been appointed interim associate dean and director of the office.
The previous associate dean and director, A. Dale Whittaker, became the university's vice provost for undergraduate academic affairs July 1.
Graveel had been assistant dean since 2008.
"John broadly understands OAP and will lead a smooth transition to our next permanent leader," said Jay Akridge, Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture. "He is widely respected as an educator across our college."
Graveel also is a professor of agronomy. He has been at Purdue since 1992.
Allan D. Goecker, assistant dean and associate director of academic programs, has been promoted to senior associate director and assistant dean. He is taking on additional responsibilities in support of the office's mission.
