Purdue to hold free hearing, speech and language screenings
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's M.D. Steer Audiology and Speech-Language Clinics are offering free hearing, speech and language screenings on April 4.
The screenings will be 9 a.m. to noon in Heavilon Hall, Room B-11. They are free and open to adults over age 18. Appointments can be made by calling 765-494-3789.
Clinical instructors and graduate students from the M.D. Steer Audiology and Speech-Language Clinics perform the 15-minute screenings. The sessions will include a hearing screening, during which the person will respond to sounds, and speech and language screenings with the clinician analyzing the person’s voice, fluency and articulation, and asking questions about swallowing.
The M.D. Steer Audiology and Speech-Language Clinics are home to a variety of professional diagnostic and rehabilitative services. A referral is not required for access to these services. All of the students in the accredited clinical programs gain clinical experience while working with patients seen at the clinics under the direct supervision of clinical faculty mentors.
The clinics are part of the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, which is housed in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
