Public invited to forum, debate for city council candidates
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Student Government is sponsoring two events for candidates running for the West Lafayette City Council District 1 seat, which includes the Levee area and much of the area south of campus.
The first is an open forum at 6:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7) in Rawls Hall Room 1062. The second is a debate at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in Beering Hall Room 2280. The candidates are Josh Teasdale, former president of Purdue College Republicans, and Eddie VanBogaert, former president of Purdue College Democrats.
Teasdale is the office manager for the Tippecanoe County Republican Party. He graduated from Purdue in 2009 with a degree in political science. VanBogaert, who graduated from Purdue in May with a degree in history, has been the incumbent since he was appointed in May. He is a senior partner in a mobile computer software design company that he co-founded.
The election is Nov. 8.
