Krannert operations conference to focus on onshoring

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's 2011 Fall Operations Conference will discuss and debate onshoring, a movement to bring production back to the United States.

Krannert School of Management's Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises and Global Supply Chain Management Initiative are sponsoring the Sept. 16 conference. The event will bring together industry leaders, faculty and students to discuss strategy and decision points for bringing operations back to the U.S.

Ananth Iyer, director of the centers and the Susan Bulkeley Butler Chair in Operations Management, will lead the conference.

Speakers include Patricia Polastri, ReshoreNow.org; Mark R. Burton, John Deere; Matthus W. Joshua, General Motors; Richard Sussman, ArcelorMittal; James L. Brown, Bremen Castings; and Scott McConnell, Genpact.

The conference also will feature the student summer internship poster competition. Students' posters will describe their summer internship experiences and will be judged by attending industry personnel.

The conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rawls Hall. It is open to the public, but preregistration is required by Sept. 12. After Sept. 12, call 765-494-4322 for availability.
