Purdue, IU to hold free technology showcase in Evansville
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Innovative new technologies patented through leading-edge public university research will be featured at a free business conference on Feb. 25.
During the 2011 Southwest Indiana Technology Showcase, Purdue University and Indiana University will present technologies developed through university research that have high commercialization potential through both existing and new start-up businesses. The technologies being discussed are patented and ready to be licensed.
For example, George Akingba, a vascular surgeon and biomedical engineer at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and Jason Clark, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering and mechanical engineering at Purdue, have designed an implantable microsensor to directly measure pleural pressure of the lungs, enabling an evidence-based approach to weaning patients from mechanical ventilation which is not possible using current technology. Many more technologies also will be showcased.
Zane Mitchell, head of the engineering department at the University of Southern Indiana, will give an update on technology innovation at USI during the event.
The showcase will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Aztar Executive Conference Center in Evansville. It is open to entrepreneurs, investors and financiers, business and community leaders, and technology specialists.
