The GEMscholars project is a research partnership on Native Lands. Through the program, undergraduate students conduct research that addresses environmental issues in their home community and introduces them to exciting career possibilities in the geosciences. GEMscholars gain valuable experience as they develop and conduct a unique research project under the guidance of mentors from Purdue University, Bemidji State University (MN), and Red Lake Nation College (MN).
The GEMscholars Symposium is held each fall at Purdue University providing the undergraduate students an opportunity to present their exciting research findings. This program is conducted under the auspices of an NSF-Geoscience Education grant entitled "Mentoring Native American Students for Success in Geoscience Graduate Programs".
