National Intercollegiate Go Karting Series

The National Intercollegiate Go Karting Series puts academic and racing skills to the test. The invitational competition will be held May 17-18, 2016, at the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race will use a "spec" racing motor kit that will cost under $4,000 for each participating university.

Academic competition categories

Energy efficiency — finishing the race using the least amount of fuel

Community outreach — this includes promoting Indy Car Racing and motorsports to the general public and promoting the University, as documented by a portfolio

Design review — unique characteristics of kart designs

Race placement — rankings after the 50-lap race

You can get ready for the race by sending an email to express your interest to Danny White. You then need to register with the United States Auto Club (USAC).
