Location and mean sea level pressure of cyclones

The location of the cyclones in the western United States at 6-hour intervals. The cyclone over Nevada (eastern Idaho) first appeared at 1200 UTC 1 (0000 UTC 2) March 1985. Also, the observed and predicted time series of the mean sea level pressure at the center of the cyclones in Nevada (solid filled bars) and in Idaho (hatched bars).

Time evolution of vertical velocity and pressure gradient force

Time evolution of the vertical velocity with a contour inverval of 2 m s-1 and the pressure gradient force with a contour inverval of 0.03 m s-2 from the OT case Run 4. (Chen, S.H. and W.Y. Sun 2002)

Updraft and downdraft in tilting cloud

The schematic structure of the updraft (U) and downdraft (D) in the tilting cloud. (Chen, S.H. and W.Y. Sun 2004)
