In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday on January 15, 2007, the Office of the
Vice President for Human Relations is sponsoring Affirming the Dream XII: Promises to Keep. The Affirming the Dream tradition began twelve years ago when the first Day of Service was organized, and this year we continue the tradition of providing opportunities to engage in
Dr. King’s vision.
We invite all faculty, staff, and students to reflect on Dr. King’s question - “What are you doing for others?” - and take part in one or all of this year’s events:
- Donate a non-food item for the Food Finders Food Bank - even the smallest
donation makes a difference.
- Volunteer for Day of Service at community agencies that work with animals,
children, senior citizens, health care and the homeless. We’ll provide lunch to
show you our appreciation. Take a look at some of this year’s volunteers!
- Attend the University Celebration to hear from Hector Cantu, the co-creator/writer
of the Baldo newspaper comic strip, as well as the Purdue Black Voices of
Inspiration.
- Participate in a video and facilitated discussion presented by the DRO, LCC, and LAFASA.
