Funding Opportunity: Indiana Model Campuses for Sexual Violence
Primary Prevention Initiative (Closed)
Goal of the Model Campus Initiative:
The model campus award is for $5,000 to work toward becoming a model campus by enhancing and/or initiating a comprehensive approach to sexual violence primary prevention. The campus will be asked to demonstrate all of the following components of a comprehensive approach by October 2009:
- social marketing
- data collection
- coalition building
- bystander intervention
- policy analysis
- male involvement
By effectively utilizing all six components to exemplify a comprehensive approach, the campus will be a model for sexual violence primary prevention in the State of Indiana.
To be considered for this grant, individuals must submit a letter of intent by Friday, May 22, 2009, addressing the following:
- Explain whether your campus has used any of the following sexual violence prevention comprehensive approach components.
- What resources do you currently have for sexual assault prevention? Include staffing, funding, and other resources.
- Please list the names of six people on campus or in the community who are willing to support this project. Please include their positions and departments on campus or their roles in the community. (Please speak with these people to confirm their support before listing them.)
- Please list the names of up to six students or student groups who are willing to help with your project in the fall.
a. Social marketing for sexual assault prevention
b. Data collection (related to sexual assault and/or alcohol)
c. Coalition building
d. Bystander intervention
e. Policy analysis
f. Male involvement
For each component please use a simple outline format with bullets and describe:
• What were the initiatives of the component.
• When the components were implemented.
• What office or group implemented the component.
• The strengths and weaknesses of the programs or strategies used.
• Please indicate which components you have not utilized and why.
At this time you do not need to provide a working budget. If you are chosen as a model campus, we will meet with you and help establish a work plan and a budget.
Guidelines:
- Any office or department at a college or university in the State of Indiana is eligible to apply for an INCSAPP Model Campus Mini-Grant of $5,000. (Student organizations are ineligible to receive this grant.)
- Grants are funded on a reimbursement basis.
- Funding may include paying student workers to complete tasks. Professional staff compensation is not allowed.
- Funding may be used to address any of the six components as part of an approved work plan.
- The funding must be used by the end of the grant period, October 31, 2009.
- The letter of intent must be submitted to Katherine Beavis, INCSAPP Coordinator (INCSAPP@purdue.edu), by May 22, 2009. Please be sure to include your contact information.
Funding is provided by the Indiana Campus Sexual Assault Primary Prevention (INCSAPP) Project, Indiana State Department of Health, CDC Rape Prevention Education grant.
